Plantation Manager – GRL Tanzania

TITLE: Plantation Manager (PM)

REPORTING RESPONSIBILITIES: The PM is reporting to the Forest Operations Manager of Green Resources Limited Tanzania (GRL) with active Country Manager.

THE ROLE: The Plantation Manager (PM) will also directly assist the Chief Forest Operations Manager in the planning and co-ordination of both forestry activities and coordinating with contractors to make sure the work is well done.

This position will also have a very close relationship with HR & administration department to make sure all own employees and contractors employees affairs are well managed.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The responsibilities of the PM include:

  1. Ensuring that all operations are conducted ensuring the safety and health of all workers, contractors and visitors.
  2. Planning and Managing all operations and resources (Including staff) using the company’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Best Operating Procedures (BOPs) in IMS and other company documents that are in line with Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) principles and guidelines, as well best practices in environment , Health and Safety (EHS)
  3. Providing leadership to all plantation workers.
  4. Developing and adhering to annual Plan of Operations (APO)
  5. Timely completion of planned operations while being mindful of the importance of economic controls, of resources and cost reduction.
  6. Ensuring proper forest management practices including protecting the forest from fires, diseases, and pets.
  7. Identifying training needs and lease with Human Resources Department on training programs for plantation workers.
  8. Maintain and /or improving hygiene of the forest and a sound road network through continuous monitoring, reporting and timely intervention.
  9. Ensure machinery and vehicles are properly maintained.
  10. Ensuring that all daily, weekly and monthly activity reports which form the basis for generation of monthly payrolls and key performance indicators (KPIs) are accurately captured into the company database( Microforest ) and summaries are generated and submitted on time to the office of the Plantation Operations Manager on a weekly and monthly basis
  11. Any other related duties assigned by the Management.

CANDIDATE PROFILE / QUALIFICATIONS

  1.  Bachelor of Science in Forestry.
  2. Proven experience (5+ years) in forestry or horticulture businesse.
  3. Expertise and understanding of international certification, preferably in forestry (e.g., FSC and ISO) will be addition advantage.
  4. Knowledge of environmental, safety, and social regulations, standards, and best practices.
  5. Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  6. Proficiency in using environmental, safety, and social management software and tools.
  7. Passion for sustainability, safety, and social responsibility, with a commitment to promoting positive change.
  8. Team player with high degree of integrity and transparency.
